Submissions

A submission is one completed set of answers to a form. Every time someone fills out a form and submits it, Formaliq saves those answers as a new submission, ready to be turned into a finished document.

How a submission is created

There are two ways someone can submit a form:

  1. They fill it out directly. Anyone with access to the form inside Formaliq can open it and submit it themselves.
  2. They are invited by email. You can send a form to someone as an email invitation. Formaliq tracks the status of that invitation the whole way through: created, sent, pending, opened, submitted, or expired, so you can always see whether someone has even opened the form yet, without needing to follow up to ask.

Turning a submission into a document

A submission by itself is just the answers someone gave. To turn it into an actual finished file, you generate a document from it. See Generated Documents to see how that works: it takes a submission's answers, fills them into the source template, and resolves any sections that should appear or not appear.

If needed, the same submission can be used to generate more than one document, for example if a correction was made to the template afterward. Each document that gets generated is saved and tracked on its own.
