Formaliq Documentation

Formaliq helps you turn a document you use often (a letter, a contract, an intake form) into something you can fill out and generate automatically, instead of retyping it every time. This site explains each part of that process in plain terms, with examples.

The five pieces, in order

Formaliq works through five steps. Each one builds on the last.

  1. Template: the master document you create once, with placeholders for the information that changes each time.
  2. Form: the questionnaire someone fills out to supply that information. Each question on the form fills in one placeholder on the template.
  3. Form Submission: the answers someone gave when they filled out the form.
  4. Generated Document: the finished file, created automatically by combining the template with submission answers.
  5. Signature: the generated document you will send out for signautres,

All of these are located within Workspaces, which can act as a collection that holds everything for one subject matter, project or client.

Where to start

  • New here? Start with Workspaces, then Templates.
  • Want a document that changes depending on the answers given (for example, a clause that only appears for certain clients)? See Conditional Logic and the worked examples in Use Cases.
  • Need someone to sign a finished document? See Signatures.
  • Want to work with Formaliq from Claude or ChatGPT? See Connections.
  • Want to experiment with placeholders and conditional logic hands-on before building a real template? Open the Lab (in the app sidebar). It's a sandbox with ready-made examples for every pattern covered in these docs, and nothing you do there is saved.
